he qualification process for one finding the right mate for marriage began before we were in our mother’s womb.  Prophet Jeremiah in the Bible is a prime example of God knowing and predestining our lives before we were born. In the book of Jeremiah 1:5 it states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Other scriptures that depicts God knowing and predestining our lives before we were born are as followed – the book of Ephesians 1:4-5 which states, “Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,” and Romans 8:28-30 depicts, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.”

These Bible passages above can be tied into one finding the right mate for marriage in several ways.  First, God had a clear cut plan for each of us from the beginning of time. That plan, however, entails us being adopted as sons, and conforming to the purpose of his will as well as the image of his son Jesus Christ. Secondly, we are called to be holy and blameless before him. Thirdly, when we are in him and living our lives through him all things will work together for our good according to his purpose; and lastly, as we walk in the destiny he has outlined for us, we will be rewarded.

By knowledge, one ought to understand that finding the right mate for marriage plays a great part in one connecting to God and his will through his son Jesus Christ, as well as, walking in obedience to him. God is concerned about every aspect of mankind, and marriage gives birth to the fulfillment of one such purposes. Hence, in the book of Genesis Chapter 1, we are told specifically what his purposes are for us when we are married. For example, God wants both husband and wife to be fruitful and multiply – to bring forth children. He wants them in oneness to replenish the earth, and to subdue it. He also wants man and woman to have dominion over every living thing that move upon the earth.

Furthermore, we are also called to walk closer with God and Jesus through the infilling of his Holy Spirit. The infilling of God’s Holy Spirit in us is needed for the various gifts, talents, and the power of God to be released and demonstrated in us. One such gifts is discernment and the ability to recognise what his will is. Also, as one prays, studies God’s word, worships, praises, reverence him, and continuously walk in obedience to him, he will speak to him or her in many ways. This ongoing relationship with God will also overtime strengthen and make one wiser. Eventually one will become spiritually mature and be able to easily recognize the right mate for marriage. It is at the point of becoming one with God that his spirit radiates in and through one, and in like manner the right mate will also radiate God’s spirit in and through them. Eventually, this exuberance of God’s spirit, purpose, and will in both individuals will draw them to each other.

In conclusion, it is the spirit of God in both parties that actually draws two justified and righteous mates for marriage. In the end, both parties’ after marriage testimony should always be that it was God who has joined them together. Nevertheless, for their Godly covenant’s protection, the Bible tells us that who God has joined together let no man separate – Matthew 19:6. And if God be for them, who can be against them – Romans 8:31. Be and stay blessed!
