A marriage is a union between two people, joined together by God, which makes it a tri-union. A marriage’s tri-union is also a reflection of the holy trinity (the Godhead) – God the Father, Jesus the Son, and our helper the Holy Spirit. In like manner, marriage images this Holy Trinity’s (the Godhead’s) relationship in the from of – the Godhead, the husband, and the wife. In examining the Holy Trinity – the three forms of God, we see that they work in unison while having three unique and distinct roles, yet they are one. In similar fashion, the marriage union was also created to work in such unison of each part having its own unique and distinct role, and yet they are also one. The Bible tells us that both man and woman were created in the image of God. God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, so he created woman as his help meet and companion (Genesis 2).

The Bible also states in the book of Ephesians 5:25 that,“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. 26 o sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.

28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 Indeed, no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church. 30 For we are members of His body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. The introduction

above is very important for one understanding what it takes to find the right mate for marriage part 2. Without any hesitation, let’s explore in more details and make a comparison of one trying to attain a much suitable job. Before we go for a job interview and accept its assignments, it is imperative that we know and understand the requirements, responsibilities, parameters, needed skills, and who we will report to or interface with to complete that job successfully, etc. No one wants to hire an individual that cannot perform all of the job’s tasks as well as communicate successfully and follow instructions. Neither does the one interested in the job wants a job that is not suitable to his or her knowledge, skills, and abilities. There is no satisfaction to be gained for the employer nor the hiree under those conditions. Likewise, if you are looking for a mate to get married, first, understand God’s order of marriage through his word- the requirements, rules, standards, responsibilities, and be equipped to meet all of these expectations by having an ongoing and consistent relationship with him, his son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Secondly, make sure that the mate that you are seeking to marry is also on the same page with you.

Lastly, do not waste your time looking for a mate to get married if you have not been fully qualified for marriage. You will get hurt and you will also hurt the other party. Believe me when I say this. Marriage will deliver to you many tests and trials, and your qualification will be tried by the fire. If your foundation is built on Jesus Christ, it will last through the test of time, but if it is not, your marriage will be a major target for failure. My hope in writing this blog is for you to be fully knowledgeable of marriage before entering in to this phase of life. Please stay tune for part 3 of this blog. Be and stay blessed!
