Have you been struggling with honing and mastering the skills of time management?
If you are, you are not the only one. I believe that everyone struggles with this skill factor at some point in life. And here is the reason for the struggle. I have discovered in my forty years of living on this planet that time-management skills are not teachable and developed as a one size fits all guide. Also time-management skills guide can never be written in stone.
How and what we all do to manage our time will vary and change constantly. Each of us has different life’s circumstances, purposes, styles, and goals that are always changing with time.
My goal in writing this blog is to briefly illustrate the strategies that I have used to effectively manage my time. In so doing, I hope that you are encouraged to create your own that will likewise manage your time effectively.
Here are the general categories of the overall daily steps that I have taken:
First, focusing on what is needed for my survival.
Greeting my immediate family and rendering attention to them upon waking in the morning.
Meeting my spiritual needs such as praying and reading the Bible to start my day and at various intervals of the day;
Exercising early in the morning before work and eating a healthy breakfast and other meals as needed throughout the day;
Meeting my financial needs such as having and securing a job that can take care of my needs, including wants;
Maintaining healthy relationships with other extended family members, friends, and co-workers, etc. at various intervals of the day as needed;
Also assisting with providing a safe environment for my family to dwell in at home and for co-workers at work.
Secondly, focusing on other goals such as developing a business, talent, ministry, helping others, etc.
And lastly, finding that extra time just to be entertained, socialize, travel, and adventure.
At the end of the day, I still find enough time to sleep regularly for at least 7 hours at night!
My trust in God has landed me on a great job that I look forward to working and going to every day;
I am blessed to be married for 16 years and counting to a wonderful husband and three beautiful children;
And my business is growing and my talents are increasing.
I have discovered that putting God first at the beginning of every day and spending time with Him at various intervals throughout my day, has been the most efficient and effective driving force behind my successful time-management skills and outcomes.
It is God’s undeniable guidance, protection, grace, mercy, favor, faithfulness, and loving kindness that have helped me to come this far!
The greatest advice I can give to you today is to put God first and He will help you to successfully manage your time. You will always come out on top as a winner, no matter what life throws at you. Be blessed!
